He said that the bright future of the children of the state can be ensured only on the path of peace. This was Prime Minister Modi's first visit to Manipur after the 2023 violence, in which more than 200 people lost their lives and thousands were displaced.

Addressing a rally in Churachandpur district, the Prime Minister said, "Manipur is a land of hopes and aspirations. Unfortunately, violence has cast its shadow on this beautiful region. After meeting the affected people in relief camps, I can confidently say that a new dawn of trust and hope is dawning in Manipur."

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for development projects worth about Rs 7,000 crore. He said that since 2014, the budget for road and rail projects in Manipur has been continuously increased. In recent years, Rs 3,700 crore was spent on national highways, while Rs 8,700 crore is being invested in new highway projects.

He said that the Jiribam-Imphal railway line being built at a cost of Rs 22,000 crore will soon connect the state capital to the national network. He also said that the new Imphal airport, built at a cost of Rs 400 crore, will take air connectivity to new heights.

The Prime Minister announced a special package of Rs 3,000 crore, of which Rs 500 crore has been set aside to help victims of violence. He said the government is helping to build 7,000 new houses to rehabilitate displaced families. PM Modi assured, "The Government of India is making every effort to bring life back on track in Manipur. We are committed to working with the state government to restore normalcy and establish peace."

He also outlined schemes such as construction of working women's hostels for women. PM Modi said, "Our government is committed to empowering the daughters of Manipur and making the state a symbol of peace, prosperity and progress."

Message of peace and development

Citing successful negotiations with hill and plains groups in recent months, PM Modi said peace is the key to development. "I appeal to all the organisations to move forward on the path of peace and fulfil their dreams. Benefits of welfare schemes

The Prime Minister informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, about 60,000 houses have been built in Manipur so far. Eight years ago, only 25,000–30,000 houses had tap water, but today this facility has reached more than 3.5 lakh houses. PM Modi said, "There was a time when decisions taken in Delhi used to take decades to reach here. Today our Churachandpur, our Manipur is moving ahead in step with the whole country."
